 "Vincent's Irises"
|
Shawn's art career began at a very early age when he painted gifts for the family. Early in his art career, Shawn worked for graphic design companies and earned royalites for his designs. In 2006, Shawn graduated with honors from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor with a Bachelors Degree in Art. With his diploma, Shawn earned a Texas teaching certificate in all level art and in general elementary. Currently, he teaches art in the Texas public school system.

| Shawn is working towards a Masters Degree in Art so that he may teach college level art. In addition to the time he gives to higher education and teaching, Shawn tirelessly works everyday on creating new paintings. He says that he wants his creations to move the soul and provoke the mind. Every painting means something different but it is up to the observer to discover it.

 "Assimilation"
|
For Shawn, there is no subject too bold nor idea too abstract. He explores different genres, subjects and themes for different reasons. Sometimes, his work is a study on a particular style, such as impressionism. "Vincent's Irises" is an example of one such study. At other times, Shawn says his works are about serious subjects that affects the world. "Global Warning" and "Assimilation" are recent examples of his world view. For these new works, he wanted to experiment with something different, so he combined pen and ink with oils for these creations.
